News Rock Doves, By Stones in His Pockets' Jones, Debuts Sept. 6 at Irish Arts Center Rock Doves, penned by Olivier Award winner Marie Jones, begins its limited engagement Sept. 6 at the Irish Arts Center in Manhattan.

Directed by Ian McElhinney, the production will run through Oct. 28 with an official opening Sept. 16. The cast features Marty Maguire, Natalie Brown, Johnny Hopkins and Tim Ruddy.

"Set in Belfast – a thriving city now that the 'troubles' are over — Rock Doves," according to press notes, "centers around four wild and colorful characters as they try to navigate the 'new' Northern Ireland – Knacker, a homeless squatter; Bella, an aging prostitute; Lillian, a middle-aged transvestite; and a teenager who still believes he is fighting the war."

Marie Jones penned the award-winning Stones in His Pockets, which played Broadway's Golden Theatre in 2001; McElhinney directed that production. He and Jones are husband and wife.

Jones' one-person play, A Night in November, played the Irish Arts Center in April 2006. The play previously ran at the Irish Arts Center in early 1998, and then again later that year at the Douglas Fairbanks Theatre on W. 42nd Street.

Rock Doves is produced by the Irish Arts Center in association with Georganne Aldrich Heller and Anita Waxman. Show times are Wednesday-Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 2 and 8 PM and Sunday at 3 PM.
