Classic Arts News Rock Star Bono to Bid on Boosey and Hawkes Bono, lead singer of the rock group U2, is putting together a bid to buy the music publisher Boosey and Hawkes, the London Evening Standard reports.
Boosey and Hawkes was put up for sale, for the second time in two years, in September. The asking price is around Ô£130.

Elevation Partners, Bono's private equity firm, is one of eight companies that are trying to buy the 200-year-old publisher. The other companies, according to the London Times, include Music Sales and Kingstreet Music.

Boosey and Hawkes traces its origins to the 18th-century music publisher John Boosey; it currently publishes the music of such composers as Stravinsky, Bart‹k, Copland, Britten, Prokofiev, Strauss, and Rachmaninoff.
