News Roger Daltrey Will Play North American Concert Tour of The Who's Tommy Original Who front man Roger Daltrey will bring the rock opera Tommy to North American audiences for a six-week tour, beginning Sept. 13 in Hollywood, FL.

Daltrey and his band premiered the new concert at London's Royal Albert Hall March 24. Unlike The Who's previous tours of the work and the Broadway musical version, Daltrey's new concert presentation includes all of the songs from the original two-LP recording, as well as a variety of Who classics and more.

Daltrey famously played the title role in the 1975 film of the property.

The tour will include musicians Simon Townshend (younger brother of The Who's Pete Townshend) as well as Frank Simes, Scott Deavours, Jon Button and Loren Gold.

"Great to see Roger performing Tommy with his band in 2011," Pete Townshend said in a statement. "I will be there in spirit and Roger has my complete and most loving support. Roger is touring his unique concert version of Tommy using his faithful presentation of the original work as the backbone for a set of wider material. It is wonderful to hear the way Roger and his new band re-interpret the old Who songs."

Additional tour stops include Boston, MA (Sept. 17); Newark, NJ (Sept. 18); Philadelphia, PA (Sept. 21); Toronto, ON (Sept. 30); Los Angeles, CA (Oct. 19); Las Vegas, NV (Oct. 22); Seattle, WA (Oct. 25); and Winnipeg, MB (Nov. 2). The Who's Tommy opened on Broadway at the St. James Theatre April 22, 1993, earning 11 Tony nominations. Des McAnuff won a Tony Award for his direction, and Pete Townshend won a Tony for the show's score. The book was penned by Townshend and McAnuff.
