Morgan's Cabaret in the Independence Foundation Black Box at the Prince is one of few venues in Philadelphia devoted to an entire season of professional cabaret performers.
Opening the season (for the second time) will be Andrea Marcovicci performing Lorenz Hart's lyrics and Richard Rodgers' melodies.
Here's the lineup:
April 29 - May 10, 2009: Barbara Brussell: Almost Like Being in Love, The Lyrics of Alan Jay Lerner: "Fellow fans of Lerner are in for some rich listening with this Prince debut. Barbara is a fearless singer compiling fresh, intimate arrangements with warm, sensitive vocals that let these Lerner lyrics shine out in all their glory. She is more than willing to be revealing, fragile, even foolishly and naively romantic. She dives right into the romantic waters. Whether belting or taking a turn at quiet reflection, the singer is commanding." Performances are Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 PM, Friday and Saturday at 8:30 PM, with matinees Sunday at 3 PM. Single Tickets are $41 for weekday evenings and Sunday matinees, $50 for Friday evening performances, and $54 for Saturday Evenings. Reserved front row seating is also available for an additional premium. Subscriptions are available for four or five performers starting at $126.
Tickets and subscriptions may be purchased now by calling UpStages on (215) 569-9700 or visiting the Prince Music Theater, 1412 Chestnut Street or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
