Roundabout Theatre Company has announced that the world premiere of Martín Zimmerman’s solo play On the Exhale, will now open a week earlier on February 19. Award-winning actress Marin Ireland (reasons to be pretty) is set to star in the production, which will still begin previews on February 7 as previously announced.

On the Exhale will be directed by Tony nominee Leigh Silverman at Roundabout’s Black Box Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre. The limited engagement is scheduled to play through April 2.

The newest work from Narcos writer Zimmerman looks at gun violence in American through the unique lens of a liberal college professor pushed to violence, played by Ireland.

Here’s how Roundabout bills On the Exhale: “When a senseless act of violence changes her life forever, a liberal college professor finds herself inexplicably drawn to the very weapon used to perpetrate the crime—and to the irresistible feeling of power that comes from holding life and death in her hands. Peering down the barrel of a uniquely American crisis, she begins to suspect that when it comes to gun violence, we’re all part of the problem.”

The Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre is located at 111 West 46th Street, New York. For tickets and more information visit roundabouttheatre.org.
