The event, entitled "Blacks on Broadway and Beyond," will take place Feb. 28 at the Gran Piatto d'Oro in Manhattan. Those being honored include Ruby Dee (actor), Ruben Santiago-Hudson (actor/director), George Faison (choreographer), Woodie King, Jr. (producer), Phylicia Rashad (actor), Tamara Tunie (actor/producer), Jeffrey Wright (actor), Irene Gandy (Broadway publicist), Donna Walker- Kuhne (marketing specialist), Patricia Cruz (producer of Harlem Stage and Aaron Davis Hall), Howard Dodson (Schomberg Center for Black Research Emeritus), August Wilson (playwright-posthumously) and The Shubert Organization, the latter for its commitment to presenting works by African-Americans playwrights, directors and actors.
Gran Piatto d'Oro is located at 1429 5th Avenue at 116th and 117th Street. This is a private event.
