News Rudetsky Hosts Touring Broadway Awards May 4; Minnelli and Zaks Present Seth Rudetsky, the comic, musician, actor and Playbill.com columnist, hosts the 2009 Touring Broadway Awards May 4 at the Hilton New York. The evening begins at 6 PM.

Presenters for the evening include Tony Award winners Liza Minnelli (Liza's at the Palace…; Cabaret; The Act; Flora, The Red Menace) and director Jerry Zaks (Six Degrees of Separation, Lend Me a Tenor, The House of Blue Leaves and Guys and Dolls). The awards, which are presented by The Broadway League, "celebrate excellence in touring Broadway by honoring the artists and productions that visit cities across the country each year," according to press notes.

The 2009 Touring Broadway Awards categories include Best New Touring Musical, Best Touring Play, Best Design of a Touring Production, Best Musical Score of a Touring Production, Best Direction of a Touring Production, Best Choreography of a Touring Production, Best Long-Running Touring Musical (shows that have been on the road for over three years), the Touring Broadway Achievement Award (recognizing a performer, individual or organization that has shown exceptional dedication to Touring Broadway) and the Touring Broadway Audience Choice Award.

The Broadway League and its members bring Broadway theatre to nearly 30 million people in more than 240 cities across the U.S. and Canada.

The Hilton New York is located at 53rd Street and Sixth Avenue in Manhattan.
