Hoffer, who appeared as Angel in the 5th Avenue production of Rent, caught the eye of many theatre fans this season on Logo's "Drag Race" with a spot-on impersonation of Little Edie of "Grey Gardens" fame.
While "Drag Race" fans have a few more weeks to go to find out who will win this season, Hoffer/Monsoon is at least assured the title of Miss Baltimore Crabs. Hoffer will take a gender-bending turn as Von Tussle in the concert production of Hairspray that will run June 20-23 in Seattle.
The cast will also feature Kat Ramsburg as Tracy Turnblad, as well as Louis Hobson (Next to Normal), Kirsten DeLohr Helland, Aaron Finley, Allen Fitzpatrick, Bobbi Kotula and Jessica Skerritt. The Seattle Men's Chorus members will perform the ensemble roles.
Hairspray will be directed by 5th Avenue artistic director David Armstrong, with musical direction by Seattle Men's Chorus artistic director Dennis Coleman.
Marc Shaiman (music/co-lyricist) and Scott Wittman (co-lyricist) penned the Tony-winning score to Hairspray, which has a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan. For tickets phone (206) 625-1900 or visit 5thAvenue.
