News Rupert Goold's Headlong Season to Include Duncan Sheik's American Psycho Musical and New Play by Lucy Prebble Headlong, the U.K. touring company of which Rupert Goold is artistic director, has announced a slate of five world premieres, including The Effect, a new play by Lucy Prebble whose Enron Goold previously directed for the company in a production that subsequently went to the West End and briefly to Broadway; and American Psycho, a musical based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis that will feature a book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and music and lyrics by Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening).

Goold will himself direct The Effect (co-produced with the National Theatre, where it will begin performances in November) and American Psycho, co-produced with Act 4 Entertainment and The Collective.

Also on Headlong's upcoming slate are the premieres of Ella Hickson's comedy Boys, to be directed by Robert Icke for a co-production with HighTide Festival Theatre and the Nuffield, Southampton; Medea in a new version written and directed by Mike Bartlett, who previously worked with Headlong on the premiere of Earthquakes in London, that will be co-produced with Glasgow Citizens Theatre and Watford Palace for a UK tour in autumn 2012; and Lucy Kirkwood's Chimerica.
