Madison Square Garden, which serves as home for the New York Knicks and the Rangers and also houses concerts and shows, has announced several theatrical and theatre star performances for both the MSG Arena and the Theatre.
Sept. 26, the Russians are coming -- with The Match of The Millennium, a popular Russian TV comedy show, playing at 7:30 M in the Theatre. The show, hosted by Alexander Maslyakov, pits several teams (for this event, Russian, Ukranian, Armenian, and American teams) against each other in a battle of wits using songs, jokes, and dance as weapons. Tickets are $75-$25.
Marc Anthony, who starred as the young Salvador Agron in The Capeman, will give a concert in the Arena, Sept. 26 at 8PM. Tickets cost $65-35.
Composer of Broadway hit, The Lion King and the coming-to Broadway Elaborate Lives, Elton John performs Oct. 13, 14 and 17 at 8PM in the Arena. The first two performances are sold out, but tickets go on sale Sept. 22 at 9AM for the Oct. 17 show.
Of a frighteningly theatrical nature, the annual Madison "Scare" Garden Scream Park materializes October 16. This year's all new park will feature nine main attractions including Studio Fifty-Gore, Nightmare on Times Square, the Gotham Sewer Tunnels, and Escape From Old Riker's Island 2-High Voltage. "Scare" Garden haunts MSG until Nov. 1. Tickets are $19.95 for general admission with special $24 "Fright Night" and $29.95 Halloween sessions. Another Latin star who performed on Broadway, Ricky Martin (he played Marius in Les Miserables) sings on Halloween at 8pm in the Arena. Tickets are $75-$40.
The holidays mean MSG's A Christmas Carol, this year starring Who member Roger Daltrey as Scrooge. Carol runs in the Theatre from Nov. 27 through Dec. 27. Alan Menken wrote the music and Lynn Ahren provided the lyrics for this musical retelling of Dicken's classic Christmas tale, revived for the fifth time at MSG. Tickets cost $68-$19 with a limited number of $80 and $70 VIP tickets available.
All MSG tickets can be ordered by calling Ticketmaster at (212) 307 7171. For further concert and event information, call the Event and Ticket Information Line at (212) 465-MSG1.
