Entitled Sounds of Hollywood, the tour, according to the actress' official website, is a "step back in time to the glamorous era of the greatest musicals, made legendary through the big screen." Expect the Olivier Award winner to perform such tunes as "There's No Business Like Show Business," "Wouldn't It Be Loverly," "People," "Don't Rain on My Parade," "Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better," "The Man That Got Away" and "Somewhere over the Rainbow."
The tour will launch Oct. 26 at The Sage in Gateshead. Other tour dates include Oct. 31 at Royal Festival Hall in London, Nov. 2 at Symphony Hall in Birmingham, Nov. 14 at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, Nov. 24 at Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool and Nov. 28 at St. David's Hall in Cardiff.
Ruthie Henshall was recently seen in the West End in the title role of the Michel Legrand/Boublil and Schonberg musical Marguerite at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket. Other West End credits include the original London casts of the import of Broadway's Crazy for You (Prince Edward Theatre, 1993), She Loves Me (Savoy Theatre, 1994, winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical) and Chicago (playing Roxie Hart at the Adelphi, 1997). She also starred in the British premiere of Peggy Sue Got Married (Shaftesbury Theatre, 2001) and took over leading roles in Miss Saigon, Les Misérables, Oliver! and The Woman in White. Henshall has been seen on Broadway in Miss Saigon, Chicago (playing Velma Kelly) and Putting It Together.
