News Sales of Legally Blonde Recording Boosted by MTV Reality Series The MTV reality casting competition "Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods," which debuted June 2, has boosted sales of the original Broadway cast recording of the pop musical.

Sales of the original Broadway cast recording, released on Ghostlight Records, have now exceeded 100,000 copies. In a previous interview with Playbill.com, Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight President Kurt Deutsch said that the cast album also saw a significant boost in sales when Legally Blonde aired in its entirety on MTV in October of 2007.

The original Broadway cast, led by Tony nominee Laura Bell Bundy as Elle Woods, is featured on the Ghostlight recording. The CD also features Christian Borle as Emmett, Orfeh as Paulette, Richard H. Blake as Warner, Kate Shindle as Vivienne, Nikki Snelson as Brooke and Tony Award winner Michael Rupert as Professor Callahan.

Songs on the cast recording include "Omigod You Guys," "Serious," "What You Want," "Harvard Variations," "Blood in the Water," "Positive, "Ireland," "Chip on My Shoulder," "So Much Better," "Whipped into Shape," "Take It Like a Man," "Bend and Snap," "There! Right There!" "Legally Blonde," "Legally Blonde Remix" and "Find My Way/Finale."

Directed and choreographed by Tony Award Jerry Mitchell, Legally Blonde officially opened at the Palace Theatre April 29, 2008. The production began previews April 3 following an out-of-town tryout in San Francisco.

Legally Blonde has music and lyrics by both Laurence O'Keefe (Bat Boy: The Musical, Cam Jansen and the Curse of the Emerald Elephant, Sarah, Plain and Tall) and Nell Benjamin (Cam Jansen, Sarah, Plain and Tall, The Mice) and a book by Heather Hach (the film "Freaky Friday"). James Sampliner serves as music director. Orchestrations are by Christopher Jahnke. The production features scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Kenneth Posner and Paul Miller and sound design by ACME Sound Partners.

The show is produced on Broadway by Hal Luftig, Fox Theatricals and Dori Berinstein, in association with MGM Onstage, Darcie Denkert and Dean Stolber.
