Struthers plays Louise Seger opposite Christa Jackson, who stars in the title role. Performances continue through July 31.
Always Patsy Cline is penned by Ted Swindley and is based on the true story of Patsy Cline’s friendship with housewife Louise Seger. According to press notes, "In 1961 when Cline went to Houston for a show, Seger and her friends arrived early and, by coincidence, met Cline. The two women struck up a friendship that was to culminate in Cline spending the night at Seger’s house and last until Cline’s untimely death in 1963. Seger supplies much of the narrative as Cline comes in and out of the story singing many of the songs that made her famous, such as 'Anytime, Walkin''; 'After Midnight'; 'She’s Got you, Sweet Dreams'; and of course 'Crazy.'"
Other members of the production team include assistant director Kami Seymour, musical director Daniel Thomas, costume designer Sharell Martin, wig designer Kat Senior, sound designer Julie Ferrin, lighting designer Jared Sayeg and production stage manager Nicole Wessel. Artistic director TJ Dawson is the executive producer.
Struthers has been seen on Broadway in Grease, The Odd Couple and Wally's Café. She is best known for her role as Gloria Stivic in "All in the Family," for which she won two Emmy Awards. As previously reported, the actress has also signed on to play Miss Hannigan in Cabrillo Music Theatre's production of Annie beginning Oct. 14.
