News Sam Mendes, Daniel Craig and John Logan Team for Next James Bond Film Academy Award-winning director Sam Mendes ("American Beauty," Cabaret) has signed on to helm the next installment of the James Bond film franchise, which will welcome back Daniel Craig as 007.

According to Variety, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, who also produced A Steady Rain with Craig on Broadway, will return to produce the  Bond film, which has enlisted MGM's Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum to the producing team.

The Bond film, which marks the 23rd picture in the franchise, is targeting a Nov. 9, 2012, arrival in theatres. Production will begin later this year; 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the iconic spy films.

"Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace" writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade have teamed with Tony Award-winning Red playwright John Logan on the screenplay for the upcoming film.
