News Sam Shepard's Kicking a Dead Horse — With Stephen Rea — to Premiere at Abbey A new Sam Shepard play entitled Kicking a Dead Horse will have its world premiere at Dublin's Abbey Theatre, Variety reports.

The Irish actor Stephen Rea will star in the play, which opens in March 2007. Shepard directs. Shepard's plays include The Tooth of Crime, Curse of the Starving Class, Buried Child, True West, The Late Henry Moss, God of Hell, Simpatico and Fool for Love, and his screenplays include "Zabriskie Point" and "Paris, Texas." He is also an actor who has appeared Off-Broadway in A Number and on film in "Days of Heaven," "The Right Stuff," "Crimes of the Heart," "Baby Boom," "Steel Magnolias," "Thunderheart," and "The Pelican Brief."

Rea received a Tony nomination for Someone Who'll Watch Over Me, and his London credits include the title role in a National Theatre production of Cyrano de Bergerac. He has appeared in films such as "The Crying Game" (Oscar nomination), "V for Vendetta," "Fever Pitch," "The Butcher Boy," "Michael Collins" and "The End of the Affair."
