Edit Villareal's world premiere comedy, Marriage is Forever, opens April 2 for a one-month run, to April 25, at San Diego Repertory. Previews began March 26.
Seven actors take on 15 different roles. Yolanda Lloyd Delgado plays Pati Kasoutis. Her husband-to-be Paul Luna is played by Juan Monsalvez, making his San Diego rep debut.
These two yuppies in love attempt to pull off a quiet, quickie wedding in a high-tech and unconventional way. Throwing a monkey wrench into the works is Pati's bruja (witch) grandmother, La India (LInda Castro), who has her own ideas about the wedding.
Others in the cast include Vetza Trussell, Ruben Garfias, John R. Padilla and Catalina Maynard.
Marriage is Forever was one of 11 plays commissioned through the Latino Theatre Initiative of the Mark Taper Forum and was presented there as a non-staged reading in Feb. 1997. The San Diego Rep is at 79 Horton Plaza. Call (619) 544-1000 for information.
