SAN DIEGO -- Dario Fo, winner of the 1997 Nobel Prize for Literature, will have one of his political satires performed at The Fritz Theatre through June 21.
Called Il Ratto Della Francesca in the original Italian, Fo's 1986 play was first translated into English in 1994, when it was produced by the Moving Theatre at the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival under the title of Abducting Arianna.
Directed by Karin Williams, Abducting Ariannna tells the story of a kidnapped media tycoon who manages to turn the tables on her kidnappers and turn the world of tabloid journalism, political corruption and scandalous high finance upside-down.
Featured in the cast are Dana Hooley in the title role, with Michael Severance, Scott Corr, Carol Abney, Christopher Gottschalk, Mark Alan Mendes and Trina Kaplan.
