Tony nominee Barbara Walsh will step into the production, which will now begin previews May 18 to allow for rehearsal time with Walsh. Performances originally scheduled for May 11–16 have been canceled; the production will officially open May 21 and conclude as scheduled on June 6.

GSP artistic director David Saint, who helms the world premiere, stated, "I wish Sandy all the best for a speedy recovery. I am so grateful that an actress of the caliber of Barbara Walsh is able to step in to play this wonderful role."

The cast also features "Sex and the City" actress Lynn Cohen and Broadway veterans Michael Countryman and Celia Keenan-Bolger.

Creating Claire, according to press notes, is a "powerful exploration of the supernova that results when science, faith and politics collide. Employed as a docent at a Natural History Museum, Claire (played by Barbara Walsh) comes under fire when her tour guide patter deviates from the strict scientific beliefs of her formidable supervisor and heads down a more spiritual path."

George Street Playhouse is located at 9 Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick, NJ. For ticket information visit GSPonline.org.
