News   Santa Monica is Almost Perfect Again, Thru Jan. 9, 2000 On Nov. 20, Santa Monica Playhouse will bring back one of its biggest commercial hits, Almost Perfect, for a run through Jan. 9, 2000. Written by Jerry Mayer, the comedy about life, love and infidelity premiered at the Playhouse in the late 80's and enjoyed a long run before moving to New York's Hudson Guild Theatre, followed by regional and international productions. The new production is directed by Chris De Carlo.

The new production is directed by Chris De Carlo.Mayer is a veteran TV sitcom writer with credits that include "Mash," "All in the Family" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." Almost Perfect was his first play. Another play by Mayer, a musical called Falling in Love, premiered at the Playhouse last spring.
