News   Sara Bareilles and Cyndi Lauper Create Inspiring "Truly Brave" Mash-Up for Kids Battling Cancer (Video)

Sara Bareilles and Cyndi Lauper have collaborated with "The Today Show" anchor Hoda Kotb on "Project Truly Brave," a musical effort to help children fighting cancer.

The music video, which is a mash-up Lauper's "True Colors" and Bareilles' "Brave," features Bareilles and Lauper in the recording studio, as well as children at the The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, playing with paint and lip-synching to the song.

Kotb, who is a breast cancer survivor, said on The Today Show, "When I visit pediatric hospitals, all I want to do is make it better. If music helped me, I thought maybe I could give these kids the gift of that perfect song. A song just for them."

Lauper won the Tony Award for the score of the 2013 Tony-winning musical Kinky Boots. She is a two-time Grammy Award winner and co-founded the True Colors Fund, the leading national organization devoted to raising awareness about and bringing an end to LGBT youth homelessness. Singer-songwriter Bareilles is a five-time Grammy Award nominee. A musical adaptation of the 2007 film "Waitress" is being developed by The American Repertory Theater, with a score by Bareilles.
