Prior to taking center stage in her Broadway musical Waitress, Tony and Grammy Award nominee Sara Bareilles will perform at the 2017 Academy Awards. The singer-songwriter will lend her vocals to the Oscars’ “In Memoriam” segment. The ceremony will air February 26 at 7 PM on ABC.
As previously announced, Bareilles will assume the role of Jenna in Waitress March 31. She takes over for Tony winner Jessie Mueller, who will take her final bow March 26 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. The musical wrapped $1.2 million on the day of her announcement—the highest-performing day at the musical’s box office.
The 89th annual Oscars ceremony will also include an appearance from Hamilton mastermind Lin-Manuel Miranda, who will sing hisOscar-nominated Moana anthem “How Far I’ll Go.” The Color Purple Tony winner Cynthia Erivo is also set to sing at the Governors Ball, the official post-Oscars celebration.
