News Sarah, Plain and Tall — with Lackey, Ayers Sisters and Wetherhead — Begins Off-Broadway Run March 19 Becca Ayers, who understudied the roles of Kate Monster/Lucy in the Tony-winning musical Avenue Q, stars in Theatreworks/NYC's revival of Sarah, Plain and Tall, which begins performances March 19 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.

Ayers plays Sarah in the production, which will play the Lortel Theatre through April 30. The cast also features Ayers' sister, Heather Ayers, as well as Herndon Lackey, Kenneth Boys, Kate Wetherhead, Lani Shipman, Mica Duncan and Kate Fahrner. Joe Calarco directs. Sarah, Plain and Tall is based on Patricia MacLachlan's Newbery Medal-winning book and features a book by Julia Jordan, music by Laurence O'Keefe and lyrics by Nell Benjamin. The musical, which is 75 minutes in length, is recommended for audiences ages eight or older.

The musical, according to press notes, concerns "a family whose house on the prairie is empty until Sarah enters their lives, awakens their hearts, and helps them sing again."

Sarah, Plain and Tall plays Tuesdays-Thursdays at 10:30 AM, Fridays at 7 PM, Saturdays and 2 and 7 PM and Sundays at 11 AM, 2 PM and 5 PM. Tickets are available by calling (212) 279-4200 or by visiting www.twusa.org.

The Lucille Lortel Theatre is located in Manhattan at 121 Christopher Street.
