Stephanie Satie's one woman show Refugees will end its return run at Beverly Hills' Theatre 40, Dec. 14. Performances began Nov. 8. Anita Khanzadian again directs. A daughter of refugees herself, Satie tells the stories she heard as a teacher of English as a second language classes. Her students, recent immigrants of Russia, Iran and Armenia told her about their escapes while Satie explored her own refugee heritage, sometimes even denied by members of her own family. Refugees ran on and off at the Bitter Truth Theatre June-Nov. 1998 before traveling to Edinburgh's Fringe in 1999.
Tickets are $12 and available by calling (323) 936-5842. Theatre 40 is located at 241 Moreno Drive.
