After the saccharine sweetness of Christmas, Theatre for the New City is ready for a little biting urban humor. Dec. 27-Jan. 13, Wise Guise (aka Craig T. Meade, Scott Lilly, Juan Villegas and Daniel Wilkes Kelley) will bring all-new, post-Sept. 11 sketches to their Craig, Scott, Juan and Dan Show. Along with new bits looking at life post-9-11, the Wise Guise will delve into wrestling matches between racial stereotypes, a doo-wop spoof, a "Ghosts of Gangsters Past" that finds Bogie in the 'hood, and a pratfall dance that features Savion Glover tapping and tripping over his dreadlocks. Past Wise Guise shows include Raven and Other Stories and Getting It Up.
All four gentleman conceived and directed the piece. Meade, Lilly and Villegas are recognizable for their roles in Benny's Barbershop and other Theatre for a New City productions.
Mark Marcante designed the set with lighting by Ian Gordan.
Tickets are $10. Theatre for the New City is located at 155 First Avenue at East Tenth Street. For reservations, call (212) 254-1109.
