Al Pacino isn't the only movie actor heavily involved with Richard III. Karen Lynn Gorney, co-star with John Travolta in "Saturday Night Fever," is appearing in a production of Shakespeare's tragedy with the Frog & Peach Theatre Company.
This Off-Off-Broadway production stars artistic director Ted Zurkowski as the evil King, playing opposite Gorney's Elizabeth. Lynnea Benson directs the staging, which runs to Oct. 20 at the Theatre at West-Park Church on Manhattan's Upper West Side.
The cast of Richard III includes Aris Alvarado, Angela Bonacasa, Mark Ethan, Bryant Fraser, Mervyn Haines Jr., Leone Fogle Hechler, Tom Knutson, Kyle Kulish, Vivien Landau, Howard Laniado, Midori Nakamura, Jack Rewkowski, Douglas Stone, Carolyn Sullivan-Zinn, Silvana Vienne and Brian Young.
Frog & Peach Theatre Company, which takes its name from an old and marvelously nauseating Peter Cook and Dudley Moore sketch, "is committed to staging Shakespeare's plays in shorter formats for free . . . children's theatre for adults, where the story and language are easily accessible to all audiences."
