Busy choreographing the Sammy Davis Jr. segments of a new HBO movie on the Rat Pack, Savion Glover has had to put on temporary hold plans for his next live show, Savion Glover in Concert, featuring his new dance company, "Not Your Ordinary Tappers" (NYOT). According to Glover's manager, though, the concert-style show is still targeting this summer, possibly June. An itinerary has yet to be worked out.

New Jersey theatregoers will get a sneak peek, though, when Glover does a special six-performance gig to close out the 20th anniversary season at NJ's Crossroads Theatre. He'll work with NYOT as well as special guests on the show, which replaces the previously announced Robeson (with Avery Brooks). Glover's show runs at the State Theatre, April 2-5. For tickets ($12-35) call (732)249-5560.

As for Glover's future plans with the show, it would be a co-production with the Dodgers and Glover's own company, Maniactin, which itself co produced a recent ABC-TV special with Ken Ehrlich. That special featured the production number "Silk Suits," which is in the staged concert. Glover has a deal with ABC to come up with three more variety projects.

Said manager Carol Davis (of Alliance Talent), "Savion always wants to maintain the live part of his career. He has so many offers now, so the idea of this company is to tour internationally 4-6 months at a time each year."

The young company of Not Your Ordinary Tappers (NYOT's -- pronounced "nots") comprises Jason Samuels (17), Omar Edwards (23), Ayodele Casel (23), and Savion's own brother, Abron Glover (26). There'll be some taped music but also a live musical quartet. Contacted Jan 19, a Dodger spokesperson had "no information" about the NYOT's project.
