Director Tillinger replaces Andy Fickman who staged the work at the Coast Playhouse in West Hollywood, California. Fickman is busy with the upcoming screen adaptation of the stageshow Reefer Madness. The New York run of Jewtopia by Bryan Fogel and Sam Wolfson will perform at the Westside Theatre Downstairs. Opening night is set for Oct. 21.

Jewtopia follows the story of two single guys — a Jew and a Gentile — on the verge of turning 30 who are obsessed with dating women of the other's religion. The two devise a plan to help both their causes by teaching one another their cultures.

Tillinger has staged works for Broadway and Off-Broadway including Say Goodnight Gracie, Judgment at Nuremberg, Night Must Fall, Getting and Spending, The Sunshine Boys, Inherit the Wind, Broken Glass, The Price, Three Men on a Horse, Sweet Sue, Loot!, House and Garden, Sylvia, The Last Yankee and Lips Together, Teeth Apart.

WEJ Productions and Jenkay will present the NYC production of Jewtopia. The popular Jewish-Gentile comedy opened May 8, 2003 in California and enjoyed a year long run filled with sold-out performances.

The cast — imported from the Los Angeles run — includes writers Fogel and Wolfson along with Cheryl David, Alan Charof, Lorry Goldman, Linda Shing, Jackie Tohn and Jenni Pulos.

The design team of Jewtopia includes Desma Murphy (set), Rand Ryan (lighting), Ann Closs-Farley (costume) and John Zalewski (sound).

Tickets to Jewtopia at The Westside Theatre, 407 West 43rd Street, (between Ninth and Tenth Ave.) are now available by calling (212) 239-6200. For more information, visit www.jewtopiaplay.com.
