News Scher's The Footage to Make Flea Debut Oct. 23 The Flea Theater will present the world premiere of Joshua Scher's online gaming drama The Footage starting Oct. 23.

Claudia Zelevansky directs the work that will officially open at the downtown Manhattan venue Nov. 8 for a run through Nov. 30.

Speaking to the "YouTube generation and the insidious encroachment of online behavior in our everyday lives," The Footage, press notes state, is a "multi-media story [that] roves between three groups of twenty-something friends whose lives intersect in the world of an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game). The friends must race against the clock to decipher the on-line clues of a young woman's surreal abduction before the cameras stop rolling."

The cast of will feature the Flea's resident acting ensemble The Bats, including Elizabeth Alderfer, Celeste Arias, Blair Baker, Matthew Bretschneider, Jamie Effros, Nicolas Flower, Jessica Grant, Robert Grant, Michael Guagno, Laurel Holland, Caroline Hurley, Rachel McPhee, Dan McVey, Michael Micalizzi and Celina Reyes.

The design team comprises Adrian W. Jones (sets), Ben Stanton (lights), Erin Murphy (costumes), Matt O'Hare (sound), Room404 Media (video) and Brett Macaulay (machinima — real-time computer generated imagery).

The Flea currently presents André De Shields and Reg. E Cathey in Joseph Addison's Cato (through Nov. 1). Tickets to The Footage at The Flea Theater, 41 White Street (between Broadway and Church St.), are available by calling (212) 352-3101 or by visiting theflea.org.
