Thomas Schumacher — the Tony-winning producer of Disney's The Lion King, Aida, Mary Poppins and The Little Mermaid — will make the rounds signing and discussing his new book "How Does The Show Go On?"

Co-authored with Jeff Kurtti, "How Does The Show Go On?" gives young readers insight into the world of theatre, including a glossary of theatre terms, costume designer's sketchbook, an authentic Playbill® program, a front and back-of-house guide, as well as the experience of a day in the life of a child performer.

On Dec. 12 at 6 PM, Manhattan's Lincoln Triangle Barnes and Noble will welcome Schumacher, Kurtti and the young star of Mary Poppins, Henry Hodges, for a discussion and signing.

Schumacher and Kurtti then head to Los Angeles Dec. 13 for a signing at The Grove's Barnes & Noble at 5:30 PM. The Los Angeles event will feature members of the Disney's High School Musical national tour: Chandra Lee Schwartz (Sharpay) and Bobby List (Ryan).

On Dec. 14 at 4 PM, Tony and Academy Award winner Joel Grey moderates a conversation with Schumacher and Kurtti hosted by the Center Theatre Group at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

On Jan. 13, 2008, at 10 AM, The New York Times hosts Schumacher as part of its "Times Talk" series in a special event entitled "Behind the Scenes and On Stage." Schumacher's producing ventures will be represented by performances from Mary Poppins stars Ashley Brown, Henry Hodges and Lila Coogan as well as company members of The Little Mermaid. "How Does the Show Go On,?" press materials state, "is a totally unique guide to what goes on behind the curtain. From informative descriptions of the playwright, choreographer, stage manager and fight director to explanations about the role of the set designer, composer, usher, director and leading lady, Schumacher has created a stimulating, interactive and all together indispensable introduction to the theatre."
