Anne Kauffman (The Thugs) directs the work that will officially open April 17 at the downtown venue. The run is slated through May 18. The company includes original cast members Gibson Frazier, Judith Greentree, Christina Kirk, Raymond McAnally, Matthew Montelongo and Monique Vukovic as well as Rebecca Wisocky.
Vineyard teams with New Georges for the new run of the drama that centers on a young couple struggling with life after losing their son. Their only guides are their daughter Lanie, the Tooth Fairy and G.I. Joe.
The production also reunites the original design team featuring Kris Stone (scenic), Olivera Gajic (costume), Tyler Micoleau (lighting) and Leah Gelpe (sound).
The show earned critical acclaim for its May 2007 debut at the East 13th Street Theatre in a production featuring original songs by Michael Friedman (Gone Missing) with additional lyrics by Jenny Schwartz. The playwright was recently awarded a Susan Smith Blackburn Prize Special Commendation for the work.
"I believe Jenny Schwartz to be a major new writer for the theatre," said artistic director Doug Aibel. "Jenny first worked with The Vineyard as an intern in our literary office some years ago, and then we had the honor of collaborating with her on a series of readings and workshops… We are pleased to be able to give God's Ear another opportunity to be experienced by more theatergoers."
