Press notes describe the play as such: "Mel and Ted have lost their young son. Now, wherever Ted goes, he meets people with dead sons. And whatever Mel touches falls apart. Mel and Ted try to continue their way through the world, guided by their young daughter Lanie and the Tooth Fairy and G.I. Joe."

Schwartz's play Cause for Alarm debuted at the 2002 New York International Fringe Festival. She is currently at work on a music-theatre documentary entitled Escaping the Modern World, developed by The Civilians and inspired by interviews with people and communities who have chosen to live outside or beyond contemporary society. She is under commission for a new play at London's Soho Theatre. God's Ear was workshopped at the Vineyard Theatre in 2005.

In New York Friedman's original music has also been heard at New York Theatre Workshop, Playwrights Horizons, the Public Theater, Roundabout Theatre Company, Second Stage Theatre, Signature Theatre Company and Soho Rep. He is the composer-lyricist of The Civilians' productions [I Am] Nobody's Lunch; Canard, Canard, Goose? and Gone Missing. Kauffman's most recent directing credits include Adam Bock's The Thugs at Soho Rep; Lisa Loomer's Expecting Isabel at the Asolo Repertory Theater in Florida; Jordan Harrison's Act a Lady at the Humana Festival of New American Plays; and Sides: The Fear is Real at the Culture Project.

New Georges is an Obie-winning downtown theatre company founded in 1992. It recently presented Dead City by Sheila Callaghan.
