Mark and Jay Duplass ("The Puffy Chair," "Cyrus") are in negotiations to write the script, which focuses on a man and woman—both married to others—who meet each other annually through several decades and personal changes. Slade's play, which starred Tony winner Ellen Burstyn and Charles Grodin, opened in March 1975 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. The Robert Mulligan-directed film starred Alan Alda and Burstyn.
