The musical about pop-music-loving slackers longing for love did not get high marks from critics after opening Dec. 7 at the Imperial Theatre. Previews began Nov. 20 following a Boston tryout earlier this fall.

The show is based on the novel by Nick Hornby and the film of the same name. Tom Kitt penned the music, Amanda Green the lyrics and David Lindsay-Abaire the libretto.

Walter Bobbie directed a cast that includes Will Chase and Jenn Colella in the frisky rock-and-pop-driven tale of a Brooklyn record store owner who can't get his love life together.

The musical is produced on Broadway by Jeffrey Seller, Kevin McCollum, Robyn Goodman, Live Nation, Roy Miller, Dan Markley, Ruth Hendel/Danzansky Partners and Jam Theatricals.

Through Dec. 17, High Fidelity will play Tuesday through Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 2 and 8 PM and Sunday at 2 and 7 PM.
