News Scripts Now Being Accepted for U.K. Playwrighting Award

The Verity Bargate Award is a biennial new playwrighting award organized by the Soho Theatre.

Plays must be full length (not less than 70 minutes) and unperformed. Writers must be residents of the U.K. and have fewer than three professional productions to their credit.

The prize is £1500, representing an option of a full professional production by Soho Theatre Company.

Previous winners include Diane Samuels (Kindertransport) and Toby Whithouse (Jump Mr. Malinoff, Jump).

Scripts should be sent to Verity Bargate Award 2002, Soho Theatre, 21 Dean Street, London W1D 3NE, no later than July 31 2002, along with two self-addressed, stamped envelopes (for reply and return of script) and a cover sheet stating the writer's name address and contact telephone number.
