The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) has established a 40th anniversary fellowship in memory of Shepard Traube, the union's late founder, and his widow Mildred, who served as executive secretary. Though the Shepard and Mildred Traube Fellowship is currently unendowed, SDCF is seeking donations from member choreographers and directors to fund stipends of $500 and $1,000. The fellowship will be awarded each year to participants in the foundation's Observership Program in the Commercial Theatre.

The Stage Directors & Choreographers Foundation was formed as a branch of the Society of Stage Directors & Choreographers but is now a separate, though connected, organization with its own board of directors.
