Complete casting has been announced for the new music theatre work Persephone, starring Julia Stiles, which will play the Brooklyn Academy of Music as part of the Next Wave Festival in October.

Tony Award-winning Side Man playwright Warren Leight has teamed with composer Ben Neill and lyricist Mimi Goese to author the piece that will run Oct. 26-30 in the Harvey Theater.

Stiles (Oleanna, "Bourne Identity") will star in the title role of Persephone/Clara in a cast that will also feature Mimi Goese as Demeter/Grace, Sean Haberle (Hamlet, Jane Eyre) as Zeus, Ben Neill as Mercury, Michael Anthony Williams as Hades/Nicholas, Alexis Baker as Iris, Sarah Wyle as Myrtle, and Amy Cammel, Bryanna Demerly, Kara Dreschel, Jessi Durham and Kristin Macomber as The Sirens. Understudies are Carly Erickson, Jordan Goldston and Marlo Clingman.

Bob McGrath will direct the work from the Ridge Theater ensemble that will have choreography by Dan Safer.

According to BAM, "The mythology surrounding the Greek character of Persephone—the beautiful and doomed daughter of Zeus and Demeter who was abducted by Hades into the Underworld—is explored through songs, narrative, projections, and instrumental music, all performed in the style of a 19th-century theatrical production."

Persephone will have films by Bill Morrison, projections by Laurie Olinder, sets by Jim Findlay, lights by John Ambrosone, costumes by Jane Alois Stein and sound design by Jamie McElhinney. Daniel Zippi and Karl Precoda are dramaturges. For tickets visit BAM.
