The film, based on Richard Alfieri's play of the same name, will be directed by Arthur Allan Seidelman from a screenplay by Alfieri.

Hayes would play Michael Minetti opposite Gena Rowlands (Middle of the Night) as Lily Harrison. In the film, Harrison, a Florida widow, hires a New York dance instructor (Hayes) for six weeks, and despite differences, the two discover they have more in common than they thought, and a friendship blossoms.

The work opened on Broadway in October 2003 at the Belasco Theatre and starred Polly Bergen and Mark Hamill.

Andras Somkuti will produce the film with Marc Platt and Jerry Offsay as executive producers.
