Directed by Contemporary Classics artistic director Brandon Ivie, who was the assistant director of the recent Broadway holiday musical A Christmas Story, The Musical, performances will continue through March 2.

"The show was birthed at Village Theatre by Issaquah native and former associate artistic director Brian Yorkey," said director Ivie in a statement. "Also, Next to Normal was the first Broadway show I worked on. I'm looking forward to reimagining the show for the especially intimate setting of the Erickson, and I'm excited to let some of Seattle's great musical theatre actors loose on this fantastic, complicated material."

DeVries, whose credits include 5th Avenue Theatre, Seattle Children's Theatre and Civic Light Opera, will be joined by Keaton Whittaker, who was seen on Broadway in A Little Night Music, as Natalie Goodman; Auston James (Village Theatre's Cloaked) as Dan Goodman; Kody Bringman (ArtsWest's Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) as Gabriel Goodman; Ryan McCabe (Balagan's Avenue Q) as Doctors Madden and Fine; and Ryan Hotes as Henry.

Next to Normal, according to Balagan and Contemporary Classics, "tells the powerful, emotional story of a mother struggling with bipolar disorder, and her family struggling to hold it together."

Other members of the creative team include music director R.J. Tancioco, production manager Danielle Franich, lighting and set designer Robert J. Aguilar, costume and set designer Pete Rush, props designer Megan Tuschhoff, sound consultant Kevin Heard, stage manager Pamela M. Campi, assistant stage manager Emily Kight and dramaturg Kat Ramsburg. The Erickson Theatre Off Broadway on Capitol Hill is located at 1524 Harvard Avenue in Seattle.
