The Second Annual Carmine's Cares/Virgil's Fights AIDS benefit will be held Feb. 28 from 5 PM. The benefit takes place at two popular Times Square area restaurants -- Carmine's and Virgil's -- located on West 44th Street on opposite sides of Broadway.
As reported earlier, server Jim Sterner came up with the idea of waiters donating their gratuities for a single evening's work in order to help Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS ( BC/EFA). Sterner enlisted the support from wait staff at both eateries, which are owned by Alicart, Inc. Alicart agreed to match the wait staff contributions, which resulted in a $14,000 donation last year.
All money goes to BC/EFA to support the fights against HIV and AIDS.
While Monday nights are not typically busy, reservations are recommended at both restaurants. For Carmine's call (212) 221-3800 and for Virgil's call (212) 921-9494.
