Award-winning actress-singer-dancer Liza Minnelli will be profiled on the hit E! series, "E! True Hollywood Story" on July 21 at 8 PM.
The daughter of the legendary performer Judy Garland and the famed MGM director Vincente Minnelli, Liza Minnelli's life has been a roller-coaster ride of ups and downs. Her stage, screen and recording successes are numerous, including Oscar, Tony, Golden Globe and Emmy Awards. However, her personal life has been plagued with health problems and drug and alcohol addictions.
Born March 12, 1946, in Los Angeles, Calif., Liza May Minnelli has two half sisters, Lorna Luft and Christiana Nina Minnelli, and one half-brother, Joey Luft. She has been married four times: her husbands include the late singer songwriter Peter Allen; filmmaker Jack Haley, Jr.; sculptor Mark Gero; and concert promoter-producer David Gest, whom Minnelli married earlier this year in a lavish New York City ceremony. Among Minnelli's plethora of awards are a 1963 Theatre World Award for Best Foot Forward, a 1972 Golden Globe and a 1972 Academy Award for Cabaret, a 1972-73 Emmy Award for "Liza with a 'Z'," a 1974 Special Tony Award and a 1978 Best Actress in a Musical Tony for The Act.
The E! profile will focus on "how the lucky lady conquered Broadway, Hollywood and drugs to find her true love." "Liza Minnelli: E! True Hollywood Story" will encore on July 21 at 10 PM and July 22 at 9 AM ET. Check local listings.
