Empanada Loca, which was written by Mark specifically for Rubin-Vega, is inspired by the legend of murderous barber Sweeney Todd. Rubin-Vega, whose other Broadway credits include A Streetcar Named Desire, Les Misérables and Anna in the Tropics, plays Dolores, a woman living deep under Manhattan in an abandoned subway tunnel. Dolores lives by one rule only: Eat or be eaten.

Also directed by Mark, performances continue through Nov. 8 at Labyrinth’s Bank Street Theater Off-Broadway.

Empanada Loca is the second in a trilogy of solo plays written by Mark; the first was Another Medea, which featured Tony nominee Tom Hewitt

The creative team includes David Meyer (sets), Bradley King (lights), Ryan Rumery (sound) and Lily Perlmutter (production stage manager).
