Center Theatre Group’s Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles presents the fall production of Head of Passes by playwright and Moonlight Oscar winner Tarell Alvin McCraney. The play, which is inspired by the Book of Job and explores family, acceptance and the power of faith, premiered in New York last spring at the Public Theater with direction by Tina Landau.

Landau returns to direct the West Coast staging, which began performances September 13. Phylicia Rashad—who starred in the Off-Broadway staging— returns along with much of the original Off-Broadway cast: Alana Arenas, Francois Battiste, Kyle Beltran, J. Bernard Calloway, and John Earl Jelks.

New to the cast will be James Carpenter and Jacqueline Williams. The engagement is scheduled to run through October 22.
