The Prom, a new musical comedy directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw, is set to begin preview previews on Broadway at the Longacre Theatre October 23 ahead of November 15 opening.
The Prom tells the story of an Indiana high school student barred from bringing her girlfriend to the prom—and the group of eccentric Broadway folk who infiltrate the town in an earnest, misguided attempt to fight the injustice. Based on an original concept by Jack Viertel, the musical features a book by Bob Martin, book and lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and music by Matthew Sklar.
Tony winner Beth Leavel, Tony nominees Christopher Sieber and Brooks Ashmanskas, Caitlin Kinnunen, Isabelle McCalla, Angie Schworer, Josh Lamon, and Courtenay Collins will reprise their performances from the 2016 Atlanta world premiere. Joining them for the Broadway bow is Michael Potts.
