Before taking on a starring role in the current Broadway revival of The Glass Menagerie, 2017 Tony nominee Sally Field hadn’t been on a Broadway stage since 2002—when she replaced Mercedes Ruehl as Stevie in Edward Albee’s The Goat. The Los Angeles-based actor says that she always watched the Tony Awards “from a distance”—that is, until now.
On May 2, Field was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play for her performance in The Glass Menagerie. Watch her interview with Playbill in the video above.
The production will include Bernstein’s incidental music for Lillian Hellman’s adaptation of The Lark, and Menotti’s The Unicorn, The Gorgon, and The Manticore.
