Seldes, Baker, Jones and Mays to Populate Williamstown's 2009 Summer Season

News   Seldes, Baker, Jones and Mays to Populate Williamstown's 2009 Summer Season Productions of True West, What is the Cause of Thunder? and Quartermaine's Terms will be part of the summer season at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

A.R. Gurney's family drama Children, a co-presentation with the Westport Country Playhouse, will open the 2009 season at Williamstown July 1-12. Under the direction of John Tillinger, Children will first play Connecticut's Westport in May. Brothers Nate and Rob Corddry will duel in a full production of Sam Shepard's True West July 15-26 under the direction of Daniel Goldstein (Godspell). The Corddry brothers performed a reading of the Shepard work at Williamstown in July 2008.

Veteran Tony-winning stage actress Marian Seldes will join Becky Ann Baker (All My Sons) in George Kelly's The Torch-Bearers, which will run July 29-Aug. 9 under the direction of Dylan Baker.

It was also announced that Tony winner Jefferson Mays (Journey's End, I Am My Own Wife) and Simon Jones (Blithe Spirit) will star in the previously announced staging of Simon Gray's Quartermaine's Terms, under the direction of 39 Steps' Maria Aitken, Aug. 12-23.

Williamstown's Nikos Stage will host the world premieres of Jonathan Marc Sherman's Knickerbocker, staged by Nicholas Martin, July 8-19; Noah Haidle's What is the Cause of Thunder?, under the direction of Justin Waldman, July 22-Aug. 2; and the Melinda Lopez work Caroline in Jersey, Aug. 5-16.
