News Sh-K-Boom and Ghostlight Sign New Deal to Distribute Scoundrels, Little Women, Spelling Bee, More Sh-K-Boom and its new theatre spin-off Ghostlight Records have signed a new distribution deal with Razor & Tie which will release its upcoming Altar Boyz, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Little Women, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee cast albums and more.

"Kurt has been creative and entrepreneurial in recording and marketing contemporary musical theatre," Razor & Tie co-founders and co-owners Craig Balsam and Cliff Chenfeld said about Sh-K-Boom and Ghostlight president Deutsch. "We are thrilled about the opportunity to help him bring his vision to a broader market."

"Sh-K-Boom and Ghostlight are redefining how Broadway cast albums are being recorded, as well as giving new voice to many of Broadway’s rising stars," Deutsch stated. Sh-K-Boom garnered its first Grammy nomination for "Great Joy! A Gospel Christmas" by Michael McElroy's Broadway Inspirational Voices last year. Since its 2000 founding, the company has increasingly nabbed Broadway and Off-Broadway shows for recording in recent years — five in this season alone (including the aforementioned current shows and the previous release of Irish Repertory Theater's Finian's Rainbow).

Through the new deal, Sh-K-Boom will releases Altar Boyz, the all-star cast recording of Bright Lights Big City (featuring Patrick Wilson, Jesse L. Martin and the label's "Sh" Sherie Rene Scott), "Wearing Someone Else's Clothes" - the debut solo album by Parade Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown and Billy Porter's new "At The Corner of Broadway and Soul: Live at Joe’s Pub."

Broadway's Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Little Women and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee as well as the Actors Fund of America's recording of Hair (with Harvey Fierstein, Adam Pascal, "American Idol" star Jennifer Hudson and "Queer Eye" guy Jai Rodriguez) will all also be released by Ghostlight.

"Razor & Tie is a forward thinking company that understands niche markets and how to market and distribute to them," reasoned Deutsch. "I look forward to new ways of expanding the audience for these recordings." The New York-based Razor & Tie, which also incorporates a kids music/marketing label and a home video company, has produced albums by such artists as singer/songwriter Dar Williams, rock band Lamb of God and Grammy-nominated Afro-Cuban funk collective Yerba Buena and the soundtrack for Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle among others.
