Tony and Emmy winner Judd Hirsch will star in Reza's play, which features a translation by Christopher Hampton. Performances will begin May 30 and play through June 5. Art, according to Shadowland, "revolves around the friendship of three men that is fatally disrupted when one of them buys an expensive modern work of art that resembles nothing so much as a blank white canvas." David Wiltse's Sedition — co-produced with Playwright's Theatre of New Jersey — will follow, running June 20-July 13. The play is described as an "historical, yet timely drama about war, patriotism and the courage to speak out."
Peter Shaffer's Black Comedy will play Thursdays-Sundays July 18-Aug. 10, and Peter Quilter's Glorious!, subtitled "The true story of Florence Foster Jenkins, the worst singer in the world," will run Aug. 15-Sept. 7.
The Shadowland season will conclude with John Biguenet's Rising Water. The drama, which "follows an older couple's long, harrowing day during Hurricane Katrina," will run Sept. 12-28.
The Shadowland Theatre is located at 157 Canal Street in Ellenville, NY. For ticket information call (845) 647-5511 or visit www.shadowlandtheatre.org.
