News Shaiman and Wittman to Pen Song for Emmy Awards Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, the Tony-winning Hairspray duo, will pen an Emmy-themed song for the upcoming Emmy Awards, according to Variety.

The song will be performed by Neil Patrick Harris, who will host TV's biggest night of the year. Shaiman and Wittman also penned lyrics for Harris' closing number at the recent Tony Awards. Variety also reports that the upcoming Emmys will boast an onstage band that will feature musicians from the worlds of jazz and rock.

The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards will be presented Sept. 20 on CBS live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The three-hour broadcast will begin at 8 PM ET.
