News Shanley's Doubt Opens in Baltimore Aug. 29 The Everyman Theatre production of John Patrick Shanley's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Doubt officially opens Aug. 29.

Laura Giannarelli and Clinton Brandhagen star in the Everyman production under the direction of artistic director Vincent M. Lancisi. Doubt began previews Aug. 27 and continues through Oct. 5.

Shanley's gripping 90-minute work is set in a Bronx, NY, Catholic parish where Father Flynn is suspected by Sister Aloysius, the school's principal, of having an inappropriate relationship with one of his male students. The young boy's mother only complicates matters in her response to the allegations, thrusting Sister Aloysius into a conflicted dialogue about her own faith and the cost of the pursuit of truth.

Giannarelli is cast as Sister Aloysius alongside Brandhagen as Father Flynn. The cast also features Dawn Ursula as Mrs. Mueller and Katy Carkuff as Sister James.

Designing the production are James Fouchard (set design), Diana Khoury (costume design), Jay Herzog (lighting design) and Chas Marsh (sound design).

John Patrick Shanley has penned Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, Defiance, Savage in Limbo and The Dreamer Examines His Pillow, as well as the Oscar-winning screenplay for "Moonstruck." Shanley directs his screenplay for the forthcoming film adaptation of Doubt, starring Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams. Tickets for Doubt are currently available by phoning (410) 752-2208 or by visiting www.everymantheatre.org.

The Everyman Theatre is located at 1727 N. Charles Street in Baltimore, MD.
