Ditto Productions presents the staging, directed by Rusty Owen and featuring Eleni Tzimas, Joe Petcka and David Ditto Tawil.
"The Dreamer begins as Tommy, a would-be painter living in a filthy apartment, receives a visit from his furious girlfriend Donna," according to production notes. "She confronts him with the news that she's aware he's been cheating on her with her kid sister. Seemingly unmoved by Donna's rage at first, it soon becomes clear that Tommy is still madly in love with her and can't seem to handle it."
The Dreamer Examines His Pillow was first presented at the Double Image Theatre in 1986. Shanley's works also include Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, Italian American Reconciliation, Defiance, Savage in Limbo and Women of Manhattan. In 1987 Shanley's screenplay for the film "Moonstruck" won an Academy Award.
